Let me tell you something, kids would be lucky to have parents like them. First off, they shot down O'Donnell's race-based theme on this shooting. I'm doing my best to write this down as it goes, but Jordan's mother, Lucia McBath, acknowledged that:
"Mr. Dunn is white and my son is black. We're not going to concentrate on that. There needs to be an amendment to the Stand Your Ground Laws. We're not saying that you don't have a right to bear arms because we can't choose for you what you choose to do, but there needs to be accountability, there needs to be responsibility, you need to understand the means by which you can bear arms and protect yourself. And that is something that really has to be addressed. So it's not a black-white issue. It's a nation issue. And people are operating in fear."
There is more to this interview, and I won't go into it all. But the parents of this child are truly amazing. Hopefully MSNBC and/or the Lawrence O'Donnell show will publish the entire transcript.
Both parents discussed much, MUCH more than "a white dude shot a black kid". If you can't stand O'Donnell, please put it aside long enough to listen Jordan's parents.
